Procedural Guides

Dr Brown provides written surgeon-specific resources covering non-procedural elements of your care (recovery, pain management, wound care).

These will be sent to you via email at corresponding timepoints of your healthcare journey. These guides are accessible on your phone at your leisure and may be read as many times as you wish. 

Our staff will start to send this information to you after to your initial appointment as part of your welcome pack to help you prepare.

Special Criteria

Dr Brown is happy to cater for all culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and education levels. Patients aged 12 and over with general surgical conditions can be catered for. Please let our staff know prior to your first appointment if a telephone interpreter is required. Pikli is happy to provide patient education and answer follow up questions or concerns after a consult via her centralised email.

Fees & Payments

Dr Brown is a known gap provider across all major health funds. All patients will be provided a quote for surgical services and are required to sign an informed financial consent to proceed with surgery

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

Medicare/DVA/Health Fund/Pension card, list of all current medications, employers letter (if work cover), support person (family or friend) if required. 

Please inform our practice staff prior to your appointment if there is likely to be a need for medical interpreter services. Please note family members or friends cannot legally translate for a patient consent for surgical procedure so please let our staff know and we will be able to arrange an telephone interpreter for your consult if required. 

Practice Cancellation Policy

Should you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment outside of our operating hours please email us at connect@drpiklibrown.com.au to avoid a cancellation fee.

Do I need a referral to see Dr Brown?

Yes, all patients require a GP or Specialist referral to see Dr Brown

Do I need to pay for my consultation at the time of my appointment?

Yes, all consult fees are to be paid at the time of the appointment

Do you see Worksafe and Public patients?

Yes, we accept patients covered by worker’s compensation claims. Dr Brown is happy to consult with patients without private health insurance. However as she does not hold a public appointment, patients will be required to self fund their procedure and any associated compounding factors upfront and in full. You will be directed to a written patient estimate after your consultation which includes surgeon, anaesthetist and private facility fee.

Is telehealth available?

Yes, please contact Dr Brown’s rooms to schedule a telehealth appointment (remote patients only for initial appointment).
